Taverna Kochilas, CreteTaverna Kochilas, Chrysoskalitissas, Elafonisi, Crete A beautiful day in Crete & a long relaxing family Sunday lunch non of us will forget. We were lucky enough to be invited by a friend (Alex) to her parents restaurant. Where we were warmly welcomed by Alex's delightful parents, grandfather & her lovely Aunty (whose fab house we are staying in looking out over the sea in Kissamos). Their family run restaurant is called Kochilas and over looks the sea & the Moni Chrysoskalitissas monastery. It's in a tiny village just before you reach the stunning beaches at Elafonisi. So many delicious plates of freshly caught & cooked fish. The freshest taramasalata, gorgeous spinach & feta parcels. All the fish are caught by Alex's Dad & his crew on his fishing boat 'The Captain'. Crunchy salads, satisfying fish pasta, incredible squid & seared tuna were all thoroughly enjoyed. But the highlight had to be the mouthwateringly amazing fish soup. It's not really fair to call it soup - made with thick slices of fish steak, large wedges of potatoes, lemon, tomatoes, time & love it really was divine! Dessert went down well too- I'll find out from Alex what it was called. So if you head over the mountains from the leafy north of Crete to the olive groves of the south make sure you call in say hello & give your taste buds a treat. Claire & family Clean Supper Club
